Second-Price Auction Economics
Praevis runs second-price auctions by default. The winner pays the second-highest bid plus $0.01, not their full bid.
Example:
DSP A bids $5.00 CPM
DSP B bids $3.00 CPM
DSP C bids $2.00 CPM
Winner: DSP A
Clearing price: $3.01 CPM (second price + $0.01)
DSP A saves: $1.99 CPM vs their bidThis encourages DSPs to bid their true value since they will not overpay.
For first-price auctions (configured per deal), the winner pays exactly what they bid.
Revenue Flow
DSP pays clearing price
→ Exchange takes fee (per-partner percentage)
→ Remainder goes to publisher payoutThe fee percentage varies by partner and is configured in the demand participation fee schedule. There is no single fixed percentage.
